PREMIERE: Here's Gazebos' Video for "Just Get High"

Do what the song says, OK?

Familiarize yourself with Gazebos, a band signed to Sub Pop's deliciously off kilter sister label Hardly Art. They might be from Seattle, but they look very Dancerteria-era NYC, and fabulously inked up lead singer Shannon Perry spends her time tattooing others when she's not fronting the band. Sonically their current single, "Just Get High" is a terrific example of artful post-punk with a splash of pop. Meanwhile the video is Pee Wee's Playhouse meets Pete Gabriel's "Sledgehammer" meets Tim and Eric meets peak era MTV. Hallelujah!

"The lyrics for this song were written during a 4 month period after a difficult breakup where I was pretty much stoned every day, from the moment I got off work until I went to sleep (or didn't)," says Shannon about the song's genesis.

"The nonsensical verses are typical of my generally existentially-stricken need to look at the regular behaviors of folks going about their day, and sort of just ask them, 'What exactly are you doing right now? What are you thinking about? Are you present in the space you're occupying?' I guess it's kind of about feeling stuck inside reality, and unable to escape except by getting fucked up. I'm happy to say that I'm feeling much better lately, but this song is about a very real and hard moment of my life. I think [director] DAISYHEROIN did a cool and psychedelic job of capturing the vibe of it."

Pop on a pair of shades and enjoy.
