Pr0files Do Happy-Sad Synth-Pop so Well - Here's "Empty Hands"

The LA duo "write songs about sex addiction, hypnotherapy, and love."

Wanna know the skinny on this duo? Well they've served it up rather succinctly with this: "We are

Pr0files

, an electronica duo living in sunny, yet twisted, Los Angeles, California. We write songs about sex addiction, hypnotherapy, and love."

Intriguing. Pr0files are Lauren Pardini and Danny Sternbaum and they're not total newbies to this music biz circus: Their first collaboration was in 2008 under Danny's prior project, The Boy Traveler, which also featured Sonny Moore—yeah, you know, that guy Skrillex. They then split off and did a bunch of interesting stuff separately, like Lauren went off to write and play keyboards in DJ Khalil's camp working with such artists as Corin from Purity Ring and A$AP Rocky. Danny meanwhile toured with his band, Baby Monster, supporting Klaxons and Metric as well as remixing tracks for Ellie Goulding, Gorillaz, and Miami Horror.

Then in the summer of 2013, they reteamed for "Call Yourself A Lover," which was a heartcrusher of a break up tune, which topped Hype Machine, even though it features the rather questionable line "I'm washing these sheets 70s times." Yikes. What exactly did you do inbetween those sheets?! Nevertheless, this melancholy synth-pop tune hinted at what was to come.

"Empty Hands"—premiering below—is emboldened by the same happy-sad sweetness of "Call Yourself…" It's a rippling synth-song that could easily slide in on the Drive soundtrack. Quite divine. "If I could only make myself feel better," sings Pardini at the song's close. Well you're making everyone else feel so much better with this song, so at least that's something at least.

Pr0files will release their debut album, Jurassic Technologie, in February 2016.
