Nudity Is Psych Rock + Devo + Jodorowsky + Mems of Hysterics on Iron Lung. So Basically You Have to Hear It

All of these influences and Nudity still works. Stream the title track from their forthcoming LP.

Olympia, Washington, a sleepy town full of hippy tweakers, Evergreen State College students, and rock bands like Milk Music, Gun Outfit, Broken Water and Beat Happening, has birthed another real cool and bizarre project.

Nudity (not to be confused their Iron Lung label mates Nudes from Seattle) play power freak jammers. It’s psychedelic rock n’ roll at it’s core, certainly riff-driven, but with some clear Devo-esque undertones. The band cites avant-garde filmmaker Alejandro Jodorowsky (The Holy Mountain, El Topo) as a lyrical influence. The first lines of “Astronomicon” are, “if you could deconstruct me, I’ll tell you what you’d find, my blood’s the color of burning roses, but there’s no fire inside.” I don’t need to tell you that that’s cool. Plus, the vocals make me think of a female Weird Al meets X-Ray Spex? What?!

Check the title track from their new LP here, and if you happen to be on the west coast you can see them play on their upcoming tour. Includes a member of one of punkest bands of recent years, Hysterics.
