Stream Dope Body's Earth-Killing, Genre-Melting Record 'Kunk'

Kill all your conventions.

Think about what "punk" really means for a minute. It's a trite and obvious statement that the genre's name will make a lot of people think of leather vests and studs, as opposed to subversion. But bands still come along and really mess up everything you know or can understand about music, mixing together elements you wouldn't think would work. A band that does that perfectly is Dope Body.

Dope Body is a band from Baltimore, MD that fucks up what conventions of punk you may have in your head. Songs like "Old Grey" take chunky riffs and throw them into a microwave, warbling and pulsating into more disgusting forms. It's not all throat and anger, with tracks like "Down" providing the band's own take on melody. It never becomes "soft" or lose its edge, it always sticks to being a killer in its own right. The record ends with "Void," a 6 minute track that takes every element found previously To be straight up, this is a fucking incredible album. It will show you complex patterns of noise crossed with more "conventional" song elements, and it will sound absolutely perfect. If you're not listening to Dope Body, what are you doing with your life?
