Listen to "You Were Right," the Debut Single from Carey's EP

The Nashville trio is what you’d get if you mixed 'Pinkerton'-era Weezer with some poppy chords and a little Modern Baseball-like self-deprecation.

Carey, a Nashville trio that sounds like what you’d get if you mixed Pinkerton-era Weezer with some poppy chords and a little Modern Baseball-like self-deprecation, are releasing their self-titled debut EP on March, 11. Judging by “You Were Right,” the first single off the new EP, I think it might be right to mark your calendar and pre-order this EP. It’s going to be a good one.

Of writing the song, vocalist Bryan Davidson says:

“The song is mostly autobiographical, and I'm mostly singing to myself about a lot of the issues I was dealing with at that moment. It was the end of July, and I had been so wrapped up in writing and recording the EP that I kind of lost touch with a lot of my friends and my life felt pretty stagnant. We didn't have a plan on how to release the music we had been working on, and I had just quit my full-time job and was two weeks away from not having a place to live, so all of that anxiety just kind of flooded out pretty quickly.”

Take a listen and hear for yourself. Then pre-order their album, tweet this article, and tell all your friends about them.
