Enter Another, More Beautiful Dimension in Nacho Picasso's Video for "Adventure Time"

Watch the premiere of the Seattle rapper's latest.

To summarize Seattle rapper Nacho Picasso as "trippy" wouldn't cover it. His bars are littered with drug and pop culture references from Gundam Wing to The Labyrinth, with many of them draped over that thick syrupy Clams Casino production, and he's previously described himself as “Charlie Chaplin mixed with Eric Clapton, if they both were black men who had just started rapping,” so there's that. His name is a dichotomy that says it all: he uses seemingly throwaway references to say something larger. He's part tongue-in-cheek, part real deal, like a really good drawing done on the table at a fast food restaurant in ketchup.

We're premiering the video for "Adventure Time" below, which was filmed last summer during Seattle's annual Northwest Fest (where he opened for Ty Dolla $ign) and put together by Wiggy and Hidden Behind Leaves. It's a lot, so I'll try to break it down for you: it opens with a scene from Adventure Time in which the character Magic Man—a martian wizard who also wears mismatched boots and has been banished to Earth for crimes against inhabitants of Mars (duh)—offers to do Finn a favor in exchange for candy. The favor actually turns out to be turning Finn into a human foot, but you don't see that bit, instead, the video cuts to Nacho Picasso getting high, sniffing flowers, and generally having a chill time in a reality where real life and cartoons can coexist. It's beautiful.
