Moxiie's Video for "Jilted" Rules

The Brooklyn-born Haitian is only two songs deep but she's already a force to be reckoned with.

So Moxiie likens herself to "a black Madonna" which is ballsy comparison for someone who's only released two tunes, including "Jilted"—the video for which is premiering above. But hey, be bold, don't fuck about, I mean, this video starts off with a line from Apocalypse Now, so they're going hard. Colonel Kurtz lost his mind in the jungle, but in this song the Brooklyn-born Haitian is losing her proverbial about a boy who stamped all over her heart. Is she singing: "When my life is over / I'll haunt you forever" or "I'll want you forever"? Either way she's pretty determined that her love will endure despite getting kicked to the curb. Girl, fuggedabouthim.

Nonetheless, Moxiie got a killer song out of it: "Jilted" is synth-pop perfect with a chorus that drops in and devastates. Tonally there are total traces of Gaga in here, but it's dialed back. Moxiie sounds coolly impassioned, not histrionic.

As for the video, well, it's brilliant. A skillful melange of sketched out animation, weirdly morphing animal skulls, and Moxiie looking foxy (sorry!) in real time. So props to the production whizzes at Dreamtiger.

Below are some behind the scenes pics, plus the video above.
