Don't Screw with Mothxr's High Score: Here's Their Video for "Touch"

Pointer fingers poised, switchblade flicked, lip curled, guyliner at the ready. Welcome back boys.

Mothxr aren't really into explaining their art, OK? Ask them what this new song is about—their first in a year—and they'll say something like this: "This video has nothing to do with the song. It's about video games and mascara. The song is about sexual orientation. We like to play with all of those things some.”

Don't forget to mention the eyeliner and leather, because there appears to be lashings of both in their video which we're premiering below (co-directed by band member Jimmy—who is also a member of Lolawolf—and Eric Feigenbaum). In it Jimmy, Penn, Simon, and Darren are hanging out in an arcade in Chinatown, NYC looking like the renegade spawn of The Warriors and The Lost Boys. Bandanas are also a sartorial essential, plus plenty of 'tude. Man I love it when guys face off and get serious over a high score.

Musically this song is a slinky, falsetto-slick cut full of cinematic synths and a strutting, palm muted guitar line. It's very cool, much like this video's drone shots, but there's something playful in this Mothxr's wry lip curl. If you're not familiar with these guys we interviewed the Brooklyn-based band back when they were just called Mother back in early 2014.

Great to have you back boys

Mothxr play London next week. Go!
