Mean Creek Face Rip It Hüsker Dü-Style on "Anxiety Girl"

They pack enough chunks of fist-pumping anthems into 21 minutes that would make ol’ Bob Pollard cry tears in his iced pail of Bud Lite.

Buzzsawing melodic post-punk bruisers Mean Creek nods to its 80s Massachusetts roots with insane catchiness, peppering its noise-drenched yet harmonious pop beast with the influence of Amerindie pioneers like Dinosaur Jr, PIXIES and Buffalo Tom. Guitarist/singer Chris Keene even sports the same haircut as The Jesus & Mary Chain, circa 1985. Like Old Flame Records label-mates Potty Mouth, Mean Creek dazzle with poppy hooks and salvos load, enough to make heads spin. On the recently dropped Local Losers, they pack enough chunks of fist-pumping anthems into 21 minutes that would make ol’ Bob Pollard cry tears in his iced pail of Bud Lite.

In MC’s last video action, they hilarious spoofed the shit out of Alanis Morissette’s “Ironic” for their own “Cool Town.” For its new stomping single “Anxiety Girl,” which Noisey is premiering above, the Creek play it straight, face-ripping it Hüsker Dü style. Keene’s battered guitar is even emblazoned with a Hüsker sticker. Now crack open a cold one, spit it out like Keene does here, and rock to “Anxiety Girl.”
