Destroy Your Oppressors with Malportado Kid's Crusher of an Album 'Total Cultura'

Crunch some imperialists with members of Downtown Boys.

Malportado Kids (poorly-behaved kids) are a tropical synthy-punk band out of Providence, RI. Their new EP Total Cultura is an eight track romp taking down imperialism, toxic masculinity, and general shitty oppressors. Tracks like "Fuego" blend the synthetic synth hits with an organic and pumping drum beat to act as a perfect platform to spring Ruiz's yells into multiple territories. Processed and fractured samples mixed in with videogame notes become flurries of agression both hard hitting and dancy. The band slows down things for their closer, "I'm On Fire," which becomes a triumphant and cathartic note to go out on. When you hear that something can be described as "tropical punk," it may seem kind of corny. But if you dig deeper at the root of what makes up "tropical," what ethnicities and cultures and ideas the word has been prescribed to, and blow it up, something incredibly resonant, powerful, and fun like Malportado Kids is born.
