About a month ago British newbieLaura Doggettdropped the SOHN-produced "Phoenix," a track built on a skipping piano line and layered with eerie intakes of breath, gospel purrs, and rippling echoes of what sounds like an enormous moth swooping past your ear lobe. Taking precedence over all of this is Doggett's dusky vocals—understated, unforced yet utterly arresting. Since then she's released a couple of remixes but this one, by Brighton DJ Eagles For Hands (sounds impractical), is our favorite by far.
