We're a fucking long way from the late 90s/early 00s heyday of post-metal brought on following the release of Neurosis's Through Silver in Blood. Save for maybe Russian Circles and a select few, the style has been beaten to the ground with alternating waves of limp riffs and snooze-worthy post-rock. Chicago quartet Pelican has weathered the storm though, and now arguably one of the genre's strongest will release their first LP in four years with Forever Becoming, due via Southern Lord on October 15th.
