Listen to Mahaut Mondino's "Voodoo Me"

Parisian Mahaut Mondino's written for YSL and L'Oreal—now she's wriggling out of the backseat, taking the wheel, and heading for center stage.

Parisian Mahaut Mondino's voice hurdles between octaves with enviable ease, making sounds that will make bats fall out of the sky if you play it out loud. She's able to tackle genres with as much elasticity, proved by the below premiere of "Voodoo Me" which takes influence from contemporary reggae and synth-pop, recalling some of the best deranged moments of Janelle Monae and Prince. Mondi was commissioned to make music for L'Oreal's perfume brand and Yves Saint Laurent, before singing two tracks on production Duo Supreme Cuts' 2013 album Divine Ecstasy. Now she's wriggling out of the backseat, taking the wheel, and heading for center stage.
