Lil Boosie Rapped Over a DJ Mustard Beat, the Circle Is Now Complete

At Noisey, every day is Lil Boosie Appreciation Day.

Total non-secret: Lil Boosie is one of the most influential rappers of the past five years. In addition to more esoteric things like his personal style, worldview, and flows, the West Coast scene has been all over Boosie's hometown of Baton Rouge when it comes to, err, shall we call it, inspiration. League of Starz's beat Problem's "Like Whaaat" liberally draws from Young Bleed's "How You Do That There," and DJ Mustard's instrumental for YG and Drake's "Who Do You Love" gives similar treatment to Boosie's 2009 "Who Do You Love?" So perhaps it was an inevitability that Boosie Boo would hop on a Mustard beat, but who knew the vessel through which this would happen would be Hurricane Chris? Makes sense, though—dudes made a mixtape together one time, so the collaboration is not unprecedented. Stream Boosie's remix to "Ratchet" below, and read Lawrence Burney's essay on Lil Boosie for maximum Boosie appreciation.
