Let's Dance: Watch Sylvan Esso's Video for "Coffee"

I've been pretty loved up on Sylvan Esso since "Hey Mami" snuck online last year. Seemingly recorded on a buzzy city street corner, the lissome vocal loops—which recall early Feist and Regina Spektor—combined with quaking synths collude to create a song that had the back of my thighs tingling. (I can always tell when something is special when my thighs throw in their opinion.) Today the duo, made up of Amelia Meath and Nick Sanborn, release their double A-side single, which includes the sweet skipping cadences of "Coffee." Since dropping on soundcloud some four months ago it's garnered 300k plus plays, and the song's video, premiering above, is an extremely fitting visual complement.

Captured in hypnotic slo-mo, the camera weaves a disconnected narrative, sliding between couples twirling on the dancefloor, through to the sticky discombobulation of a drunken house party, spinning on and on to the climax, which stands as an excellent reminder that dancing is basically the most you can have and we should all do it more often. (Ditto goes for sex, of course, 'cos you know, endorphins.)

Thank you Sylvan Esso.
