Let Black Pussy Show You Their 'Magic Mustache' in Full

Yes... that name. But still, stream the new stoner rock LP in full now, out via Made in China Records.

There’s too much music, but really, there’s way too much bad stoner rock. Ever since The Sword made “metal cool again,” there’s too many dipshits who grew beards, decided they wanted to play biker dress up, and worst of all, rip off Sabbath riffs that were already played out when Ozzy was a TV star. If you live in Austin or Portland, you know this all too well, as they’re rife with crimes against Orange amps. There needs to be a moratorium on Holy Mountain and Vol. 4 for at least a year if not longer, and it needs to be sponsored by Dollar Shave Club.

Thankfully, Portland’s own Black Pussy, named for the original title of The Rolling Stones’ “Brown Sugar,” provide a much-needed recharge. When a good stoner band comes out, it feels even more magical. Magic Mustache comes out today on Made in China Records, and we’ve got the whole thing right below. What separates these guys from the flock is their 90s grunge influence, combining catchy crunch with strong songwriting. In particular, “Farrah Fawcett” and “For The Sake of Argument” sound like Tad Doyle flying high on Hawkwind. The closing title track has all of the trippy trappings you’d expect from something called “Magic Mustache,” but they didn’t blow their load on coming up with the name. Elsewhere, Black Pussy resemble a cross of Kyuss and Thin Lizzy, and if you think that’s a bad thing, you better walk, not run, out of the wall so you’ll get your due. If you're not an idiot who hates rocking after all, preorder Mustache here.

Black Pussy are also about to head out on tour. You can offer yourselves to them at these dates.
