King Cyst's history leading up to their first release is almost too perfect. They started out as an instrumental Doors tribute band. In mid-2011, they found the perfect lead vocalist and songwriter in Luka Usmiani, former No Demons Here member. Usmiani's progressive, Canterbury scene-influenced lyrics fit in seamlessly with the band's strange psychedelic folk sound. Ian Drennan brought his saxophone skills into the mix to complete the outfit, and thus, Real Pussy was born. Recorded at Flower Power Studio, the full-length will be officially released September 11th on Underwater Peoples.Until then, you can enjoy "The Plum Man" below, featuring the band's jazzy influences and Usmiani's playful songwriting.
