Killer Mike Is Running for Georgia State Representative

Run the votes!

Killer Mike's passion for politics is well documented, both in his incendiary music and his interviews. He's made appearances everywhere from CNN to Real Time with Bill Maher offering no-nonsense discussion on the state of race and poverty in the South. Today, he's taking his convictions a step further. In a post to his Instagram account today, Mike put himself in the running for Georgia state representative. Tyrone Brooks, the previous state rep for Atlanta's District 55 for the last 35 years, resigned in April in a letter announcing his intent to "transition back to full time civil rights work," but he also plead guilty to longstanding tax, wire and mail fraud charges. His spot's open, and Mike wants it. Run the votes, ATL. The election's tomorrow. Mike's official announcement is below.

UPDATE: Turns out, Georgia law won't let Mike be elected. We interviewed him to get a clearer sense.
