This is a surprise.I know you've been talking about punk rock and DIY for a while, I know you dated Ryan from The Cribs, I know you're no-longer the Lily Allen the neighbours would trust to babysit, but I don't think I expected you to go this far. "Under-Estimate The Girl" is kind of the longest Hole b-side ever recorded. Unfortunately, Hole were fronted by an unhinged mega-cow interested in fame and drugs, and this is fronted by someone who, you feel, would be better suited writing a dissertation on feminism in punk rather than trying to pull it off.ANYWAY. It got me thinking; hasn't Kate Nash actually gone through about 50 transformations already? Didn't she start as a kind of electronic blog-house hipster thing? Didn't she write an ironic DIY bedroom song about Killers fans? Oh yeah, she did.Then didn't she become a pop star with a really, really traditional pop song? The kind of thing which now seems so remarkably straight it would be impossible to even imagine it in the charts?Oh yeah, she did. And she was still dressing like a cupcake at that point. I mean, everyone knows that song is decent, but seems seriously old fashioned compaired to whatever guff does well today. Weird huh?And then Kate, you started to talk about how much you liked Le Tigre and Shrag, but confusingly, you turned into The Pipettes.PS: That video really sucked.And now you're in a bindi, wailing. Well, good luck to you. You might be just about the least predictable pop star in the country and for that, you should be commended.
