Let John Reis & The Blind Shake Warm You Up with a New Surf Song, "Sea Saw"

Some surf rock from the legendary Rocket from the Crypt frontman to make the bitter winter go down easier.

Earlier this week, we talked to the legendary Swami John Reis (he of Rocket from the Crypt, Hot Snakes, Pitchfork, Drive Like Jehu, and duh, dude, it’s John Reis) about his new surf project, Modern Surf Classics, which he is releasing with The Bad Shake later this month. We asked: do people really want to listen to a full album of surf instrumentals in 2015? We’re gonna go ahead and answer our own question here and say: yes.

We’re basing that firstly on the fact that he has a ravenous fanbase who thinks his handmade guitars are worth an insane $125,000 on eBay. And also because the more we hear of this thing, the more we’re sold. It possibly has something to do with the fact that it is negative 500 degrees in New York right now and picturing ocean waves crashing down on us as we nail a sick [what is a cool-sounding surfing trick?] sounds like paradise. So thank you, Swami John Reis, for warming us all on this freezing cold day with your wonderful, wonderful surf music. Now what generous philanthropist will cough up a hundred grand for that guitar?
