After months of holding my breath, praying, and crossing my fingers at all available opportunities, MIA has finally approved me to follow her on Instagram. I was hoping this would lead to some kind of rabbit-hole experience where I would literally get pulled into the MIA universe and have to battle authority figures to save Julian Assange, or maybe to the discovery that MIA is running a secret lifestyle advice community along the lines of GOOP (so, MOOP). But nope, it turns out MIA’s Instagram mainly reveals something I already knew from listening to her albums—she likes her own name, which is MIA, by the way. Kanye doesn’t do Instagram, but Kim Kardashian West does, which means that the world gets to see this photo of the Internet-breaking couple putting the WEST in WEST WING. Massive missed opportunity on the caption there, Kim. Willing to bet that somewhere in those 23,294 comments is someone asking who Borat Obama is.

If I ever see him in real life and the air around him doesn’t turn sepia, I’ll be making some serious complaints. TO GOD.
