Named for an infamous 1970s-era Hollywood rockstar drinking club that led to the kind of debauchery our mollycoddled 2015 brains can scarely comprehend, the band Hollywood Vampires surfaced several decades after the last shot was poured and many of the original hellraisers like Keith Moon and John Lennon had entered the eternal fire.The 2015 lineup is an 80s metal fan's wet dream, with a dizzying array of session musicians orbiting around a core comprised of Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp, Aerosmith's Joe Perry, and Guns'n'Roses survirors Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum. The list of session musicians bounces from Sir Paul McCartney to Dave Grohl, Perry Farrell, Slash, Joe Walsh, Kip Winger, and literally over a dozen more. It's essentially the "We Are the World" of 70s, 80s, and I suppose 90s (Foo Fighters are the most 90s band that ever 90s'ed, after all) rock gods, and the best part is that their music is actually pretty good!The band's debut album, Hollywood Vampires, will be released on September 11, and in a nice touch of solidarity for their fellow musicians, all artist proceeds will be donated to the music charity MusiCares.They've released a slew of songs on Youtube already, the most interesting of which are their cover of "The Who's "My Generation" and the medley "School's Out/Another Brick in the Wall" (featuring AC/DC's Brian Johnson on vocals!).
