Here Are the Three Super Sweet Rap Songs that Came Out During the Blizzard

Music to help you deal with the fact that science hasn't figured out a way to stop snow yet.

Someone pass nature the aux cord

A lot of people give snow a hard time, but it's a pretty dope form of water. It's not as messy as liquid and not as dangerous as ice, not to mention that you're able to build cool characters with snow which you can then project feelings onto because you were born an only child and your parents were always working. Snow is dope, except for when there's a lot of it, which happened to be the case yesterday as large swath of North America's East Coast were covered with powder. But while the snow was falling, so too were the rap singles, as a trio of songs was released. For those of you who were too busy shovelling nana out of her bungalow to be refreshing Soundcloud, we've got your round-up right here:

Kaytranada ft. Vic Mensa - "Drive Me Crazy"

The only tag team of producer/rapper better than Kaytranada and Vic Mensa might be YG and DJ Mustard, and you may have to give bonus points to Mensanada off the strength of the duo not sharing a state, or even a country. After the success of "Wimme Nah", they return to form with "Drive Me Crazy" which will be included on Kaytranada's upcoming album to be released on XL. The single features production from Kaytranada that sounds like it could soundtrack an underwater level of a video game, allowing Vic Mensa to cut through the drums and synths with expertly levelled raps. There's also a guitar solo at the tail end of this song, in case you needed another reason to listen.

Travis Scott ft. Young Thug, Partynextdoor - "Nothing But Net"

The thing that went through my mind the first time I listened to this song was analogous to that time I saw the trailer for Brothers with Tobey Maguire and Jake Gyllenhaal: "wait, those are different people?" The trio of weirdo street-centric artists who sing just as often as they rap are all so complementary to each other, it can be hard to distinguish where one stops and the other starts. I'm pretty sure it's Partynextdoor on the hook and Thugga on the first verse, but anything after that is a toss-up.

Travis Scott ft. Future - "High Fashion"

When Travis Scott wants to, he can rap his ass off, and this song with Future happens to be one of the times when he wants to do it consistently throughout. This song goes so hard that if you put your speaker to the window facing the snow storm, the snow will turn to flames, causing severe property damages (so maybe don't do that). And maybe it's because I just listened to a Travis Scott song featuring two artists that are direct branches off Future's artistic lineage, but Future's output comes off as lacklustre. It's disappointing to see how quickly Future's hype cycle was taken over by his children, but we'll always have Honest.
