PREMIERE: Heiress' 'Made Wrong' Hits all the Right Sludgy Post-Hardcore Notes

Stream the complex, jagged new album from these beardy Seattle noiseniks.

Ten years into their career, it makes sense that Heiress has mastered the sludgy, post-hardcore format— the "hardcore" portions of which enjoy a bit of an edge thanks to their pedigreed vocalist, John Pettibone of Undertow and Himsa renown. As we've noted previously, Heiress is its own beast, though, and has more in common with Botch, Isis, and early Mastodon–which must've made working with producer Matt Bayles a breeze on the band's latest album, given that he's twiddled the knobs for those very same bands.

The end result, Made Wrong, is a complex, fractured mishmash of the aforementioned sludge and post-hardcore with post-rock, doom, primitive grunge, and straight up hardcore. The band's label shift form Deathwish to The Mylene Sheath seems to have only heightened their intensity, and their mastery of the "contemporary loud/quiet" dynamic they mention in their bio is top-notch. The record is out March 18, and we're streaming it in its entirety below.

Preorders for Made Wrong are available now via The Mylene Sheath, on physical and digital formats. Listen in, and turn it up.
