Nashville ambient duo Hammock hit up outer space for a psyched-out tour of the future in a two-part video premiere for “My Mind Was a Fog… My Heart Became a Bomb.” It makes sense why Hammock would put such emphasis on their videos since this kind of instrumental post-rock fits so well behind a sprawling visual landscape. Though the film starts with a young boy’s relationship with a Wilson soccer ball (Cast Away, anyone?), we shoot through time and end up in a green house where said boy is now a consternated young man with a mission to explore the post-apocalyptic unknown. Then, we end up in space for a panoramic view of the Earth to cry to as Hammock’s swirling symphony reminds us how infinitely small we are. Thanks, Hammock, for the deeply unsettling “Melancholia” vibes.Follow Bryn Lovitt on Twitter.
