Gosh Pith's Video for "K9" Is the Tale of a Detroit Love Triangle

With their laidback R&B, this duo seek to capture that summer-in-the city feeling—when everyone feels alive and free.

What's up Gosh Pith! We're excited to premiere their newest video for "K9" a song about a love triangle set in Detroit, with a video that features a bunch of their pals. Basically cute kids being kids, getting into trouble and partying and feeling those feelings for the very first time.

"K9" is the slick lead single from their second EP Gold Chain (out 2.26 via LA's B3SCI). It's a creamy but dark cut of R&B. Kinda like the perfectly brewed cup of coffee, but like, sexier. A cup of coffee prepared by Miguel. We first started digging the duo—comprised of 20-somethings Josh Smith and Josh Freed—when we premiered "Smoke Bellow" in 2014. Back then we described the quivering tune as "an alien is doing the shmoney dance to cosmic trap." By contrast they describe their new EP as Hype Williams meets Jean-Luc Godard. And if said EP was a the soundtrack to a short film?

"There's this old TV series from the 50s we always come back to called Alfred Hitchcock Presents… it would be like that, but way psychedelic," they explain. "Plus some skaters and a crooked cop. We wrote these tunes when it was still summer, it was hot and nights lasted long and we were going to a lot of raves. Life is just so much easier during the summer in Detroit, everyone feels so alive and free. A 'running from the cops' type of feeling."

Press play below and you'll see what they mean. In the meantime, the guys are busy making new tunes, speaking an unspoken language that makes music-making click into place. Their plans for 2016 involved more touring and experimentation: "Also to drink coffee and liquor, to gain perspective, and hang out with our friends Joey 2Lanes and Black Noi$e more—they inspire us."

We're down for Gosh Pith: they're sensitive souls who aren't afraid to talk tears: "We recently found out that one of our favorite bands in Detroit—Jamaican Queens—is splitting up and it bummed us out bigtime. Also recently cried while watching Inside Out when the imaginary friend evaporates. The whole theater was crying.
