Gold Lake Go Film Noir in Their Video for "Lovers"

Watch this dark vignette involving goldfish, a gun, and love that wraps around you like a bulletproof vest.

A few weeks back we premiered the new album, Years, by Brooklyn-via-Madrid trio Gold Lake, and we like them so much we went back for more. The video for "Lovers" is very much of the music-video-as-a-cinematic-short school of thought—all sepia tones and slo-mo and a man getting very angry about his tennis-courtside grapefruit breakfast. (How could you possibly be pissed about that?) But this is just the opening sequence of what turns out to be a rather dark vignette involving a goldfish, a gun, and love that wraps around you like a bulletproof vest.

Musically the song simmers at a perfect temperature, a gossamer-fine ripple of guitars providing the bed for Gold Lake's boy-girl vocals to intermingle. It's all terrifically romantic and wild. Press play and live vicariously.

Kim Taylor Bennett intends to play tennis in pearls at the earliest opportunity. Can anyone lend her some pearls? She's on Twitter.
