Garden City Movement's "Bengali Cinema" Will Make You Want to Blow This Popsicle Stand

There's some good shit coming out of Tel Aviv these days.

It's Friday afternoon in the middle of the summer, so chances are all you worker drones out there are jonesing to bust out of your cubicle—us included. Hang in there and play Garden City Movement's new single, "Bengali Cinema"—the title track off their forthcoming EP (out 6/23 via BLDG5Records). Beaming out their beats from Tel Aviv, this song comes off like Friendly Fires after a summer spent mellowing in Ibiza (the side of the island without the super clubs). It's music that makes you want to drive down the coast, jump on a dancefloor, and generally let off some end of the week steam.

Hazy vocals are layered over a tapestry of drumbeats, guitar riffs, and some good old synth. Chopped up, looped, and pieced back together, the effect could jarring, but realized here, it's joyous. Noisey readers from across the pond: catch Garden City Movement make their festival debut at Glastonbury. P.S. Garden City Movement recently opened for Noisey favorites SOHN and Cults. This is a good thing.

Aliza has been dancing to this song all day. Which is awkward because she's sitting in a swivel chair. She's on Twitter - @AlizaAbarbanel
