Freak-Out Time for Swedish Psych

This is what music raised on an effective government health care system sounds like.

Later this summer, Swedish psych rock outfit Goat will be releasing their full-length album via Rocket Recordings. The mysterious Gothenburg-via-Korpilombolo band doses their brand of psych accordingly, catering to the Ayahuasca/DMT set. They dropped a 7” earlier this year, as well as a cassette tape, through Ljudkassett. The recordings sound live. Raw. Soulful. Totemic riffs shift between CAN-like rhythms, making Tame Impala’s brand of anthropological psych rock look like a theme park diorama by sonic comparison. Time to dust off the old cassette player in the garage so you can appreciate the soundtrack of your journey to the astral plane. This is a clearly a band raised on an effective government health care system and repeated viewings of Alejandro Jodorowsky’s Holy Mountain. However doubtful, perhaps this is just an unearthed B-side from a Gong record.

Their new record World Music will be released via the pineal gland of Rocket Recordings in August 2012.
