Watch Eleanor Friedberger's New Video for "Because I Asked You"

Formerly one half of The Fiery Furnaces, Friedberger's now on her third solo LP, plus she performs on 'Late Night with Seth Meyers' this evening.

Pretty nuts to think it was 16 years ago that Eleanor Friedberger and her brother formed The Fiery Furnaces, going on to release eight albums in nine years! Extremely Rihanna-esque on the prolific scale, except these two don't have a fleet of songwriters and producers beavering away behind the scenes. But we digress. Eleanor's solo fare is far more polished, a groovy, 70s-tinged kind of indie folk, warmly organ-stoked and perfectly exemplified by new single "Because I Asked You." We're premiering the video below, a performance as viewed on an old school TV box, and it just so happens that the Upstate-dwelling singer is performing this very song tonight on Seth Meyers. Except everyone will watch it on flat screen now though.

“We shot this video last year at the Good Time Bar in Millvale, PA," explains Eleanor. "We performed a short set there just before singing a round of karaoke; 'Bad Moon Rising' and 'Right Down the Line' were highlights. The video also features a television from my home bar, where I normally watch a Led Zeppelin DVD on repeat.”

Watch below and go see Eleanor on tour across the States right through till May.
