Eddy Current Suppression Break a Six-Year Hiatus To Play Golden Plains 2016

The influential Melbourne garage rockers are the first band locked in for the 2016 Golden Plains lineup.

In news that has shocked and delighted Aussie music fans, influential Melbourne garage rockers Eddy Current Suppression Ring have been announced as the first band for Golden Plains' tenth-anniversary.

The band, who haven't played a public show in six years, will once again play the Supernatural Amphitheatre ten years to the day since they played the very first Plains in 2007. The band have never officially called it quits, and interviews with guitarist Mikey Young have made it clear that a Eddy Current reunion has never been totally off the table, but at this stage the gig is a “one-off”.

The band first played the Sup' at the coveted (and now somewhat mythical) Saturday 11am slot of the 2005 Meredith Music Festival, before playing the first Plains in '07 and returning again for Meredith in 2009; that time to headline the festival.

The announcement marks the opening of the ticket ballot; you've gotta get in before October 20 for a chance at first round tickets. Trust us; this isn't something that you want to miss.
