Friday night was a night of guaranteed funk at Bonnaroo: Just minutes after Kendrick Lamar finished reminding people that they wanted the funk during "King Kunta" on the main stage, Earth, Wind & Fire hit the main side stage and proceeeded to tear it down with classic after classic. But that wasn't enough: They showed they have their finger on the pulse of right now, too. After wrapping up their megahit "September," they announced some special guests joining them onstage: Kendrick and Chance the Rapper, who was just announced as one of the Superjam guests for Saturday night.

The two rappers took the stage (Chance shirtless and in a Chicago White Sox hat, naturally), and hyped the crowd up before trading a few freestyled verses. They hyped each other's recent, jazz- and funk-heavy projects, Surf and To Pimp a Butterfly, and Chance plugged his Superjam set. There couldn't have been two more appropriate rappers to show up during an Earth Wind & Fire set in 2015, and they made the most of it. It was pure Bonnaroo magic, animated, naturally, by the spirit of funk. Chance also reportedly popped up onstage during Flying Lotus's set right after. Check out some short clips of Kendrick and Chance's appearance alongside Earth Wind & Fire below:
