PREMIERE: Grinding Black Metal Horrors Dendritic Arbor Return With "Keratoconus"

Stream an unbelievably harsh new track from these Pittsburgh killers' upcoming new album, ' Sentient Village // Obsolescent Garden.'

There's nothing malign or suspicious about the words "dendritic arbor"–if anything, it's a nice, pastoral phrase, with its connotations of grasping branches, sun-dappled leaves, and heavy bows. When left in the band Dendritic Arbor's hands, though, the words summon chaos, as the Pittsburgh collective's thorny compositions reach out into every murky corner of extreme metal and sink their claws in deep.

The hellacious, godless noise they create was once based in black metal, but has since metamorphosed into a grinding nightmare of harsh influences—power electronics, death, grind, black—stitched together with embalmer's thread. I once compared them to Knelt Rote, and the comparison stands, though if it's even possible, Dendritic Arbor sound even more unhinged on their newest release, Sentient Village // Obsolescent Garden.

Sentient Village // Obsolescent Garden is out December 30; for now, you can stream the gibbering horror of "Keratoconus" below.
