Death Valley Girls Bring Us "Summertime"

Squally girl garage rock never sounded so sweet.

More girls should get involved with psych-leaning garage rock. There's just something about the chaos of fuzzed guitars, clattering drums, and a squally, lip-curled girl vocal that hits the sweet spot. Last time we caught up with the LA crew was back in October when they were touting a tripped out video for “Electric High” which was raggedy and punk in all the right ways. Here they sound marginally more mellow but no less thrilling.

Bonnie Bloomgarden (whatta name!) had this to say about the track: “Death Valley Girls are in love. Deeply, and always. “Summertime” is knowing so long as you are of pure heart and open mind, the universe will bring you together, somewhere, and maybe in the summertime, or not.”
