Last time I wrote about Brooklyn trio Dead Stars I said their music was a time machine taking us back to the 90s. This is still very much the case. I mean it'd be pretty weird and confusing if suddently they were a time machine to the 1920s. Their latest single "Calm Punk" (isn't that an oxymoron?) is another distortion heavy pop song that'll worm its way into the hearts of Weezer lovers the world over. The bassline and beat here is very Pixies, no? It's the first release off their as of yet untitled forthcoming record—a little taster of what's to come. Have more than a taste and go see them on tour (dates below) starting next week. After this I'm going straight to Something to Write Home About three times in a row. Bye!
