Cotopaxi is a musician out of Braddock, PA that plays lo-fi, emotive indie sure to tug at the core of your heart. Today, he's streaming his debut full-length record Having All The Fun, which drops next Friday April 8 on emo tastemaking label Count Your Lucky Stars. What Cotopaxi is able to achieve on the record is accurately capturing a kind of fun disaffectiveness, capable of feeling joy and humor with an underlying shroud of sadness. The record starts slow with "Exceptionally Ordinary," an all acoustic jam setting the pace for the record lyrically before it expands itself musically. Each song is rife with a keen level of detail in its lyricism, creating a kind of folklore account of exact scenes out of life and emotions, everything from how quickly a heart was beating to exactly what was playing on the television. Musically each song adapts to the mood, "Fewer Expectations" employs a heavy but poppy bass line before transitioning into the atmospheric, reflective "Spend." It's a record precise in how it evokes its emotion, casting scenes of regrettable relationships and actions and celebrating reflection and personal growth.
