Between Chris Farren and Grey Gordon, you wouldn’t expect Chris to be the one writing a song about being in jail, seeing as how Chris looks like a male model in an ad for face moisturizer and Grey looks like, as I’ve affectionately called him, an emo kid who joined a prison gang. So let it be a lesson to never judge a book by its cover because the two are putting out a split together and one of Chris’ songs is about spending a night in jail for the most punk rock of crimes: trespassing. You might also not expect said song by a member of pop punk band, Fake Problems, to have a Hank Williams vibe to it, but then again, being locked in a cell changes a man, even if it is just overnight.So drop your pre-conceptions and listen to one of Chris' contributions to the split, “Eagle Eyes,” below which is very much not the song you might expect if you’ve followed his career. Lots of twangy guitars that give it an American country music feel, mixed with some ukuleles and other sounds you might hear in traditional Hawaiian folk music. Chris really experiments with genre borders here and it pays off big time.The four-song split, Ducks Fly Together (sick Mighty Ducks reference, by the way), will be out on June 17 from No Sleep Records and you can pre-order it right here.
