Busy Living Deal with the Evil Side of Love: Here's “Let You Down”

Everyone's writing their own narrative, living out their own movie.

When most of us hear the term “unrequited love,” we take a very single-sided approach. Our minds shift to automatic sympathy for whoever is sending out the affection and getting nothing back. Rarely do we find ourselves siding with the object of said affection, even though most of us have experienced both situations at one point or another.

Enter Busy Living, the LA-based band whose new single “Let You Down” was produced by Jim Eno of Spoon fame, explores the fear of disappointing someone who seems to be more into you than vice versa. The song evolves from harmonized vocals over faint-hearted synths into a brash, distorted chorus, all the while delivering the same message: “I don’t want to let you down / But it’s gonna happen,” with varying degrees of intensity. Of the new release, lead singer and guitarist Mike Moonves said the following: "'Let You Down' is a true account of being on the seemingly evil side of unrequited love. It's about people hearing what they want to hear and the shock when they hear the original truth. Sometimes you get blindsided by things that have been right in front of you the whole time. And sometimes it's you doing the blindsiding."
