Build and Destroy is a project formed by vocalist Haroun Khan (of RZL DZL, Violent Minds and Cold World) along with Will Atkin (also of RZL DZL), Eric Lauder, Mike Jurysta, and Robbie Mansel. The band's 2010 demo which was circulated among the hardcore scene to great fanfare. Its sound akin to the likes of Killing Time, Madball, and Leeway. Build and Destroy is a marked difference from Khan's earlier work in RZL DZL. Build And Destroy spoke to an anger and frustration from living in a deteriorating society.

After the demo, the band played shows while the talk of a new record persisted (for what seemed like forever). The talk continued, but so did the members' lives. Their other musical endeavors effectively forced a new Build and Destroy record to the shelf. In 2015, Map of the Heavens will finally come out on Lockin Out Records. The record plays to a lot of the band's experiences. “All Hail The Dopeman” (featuring No Warning's Ben Cook & Terror's Scott Vogel) is a song that comes to terms with Detroit being conquered by its criminal element. The record's eponymous track is a tour de force anthem reminiscent of later Cro-Mags that also features Iron Age's Jason Tarpey for a verse.

With the annual This Is Hardcore festival, now in its 10th year, happening next week in Philadelphia. Build and Destroy have chosen to make the event Map of the Heavens' de facto record release show. They play Friday, July 24th along with American Nightmare, The Suicide File, Nails and more at the Electric Factory. Map of the Heavens will also be available at Lockin Out Records' website next week.
