British Indie Rock Lives! Here's Felt Tip's "Simple Things"

Nobody does spry, herky-jerky, faintly melancholic indie rock like the Brits.

I'm American, but I lived in the UK for a very, very long time, until 12 months ago when I moved to NYC. Here are a few simple things I miss about the UK:

1. HobNobs.

2. Clotted cream.

3. People saying: "Alright darlin'?"

4. Getting drunk at people's houses and dancing around the living room because all the bars have closed. (The bars are never closed in NY.)

5. British indie rock.

Nobody does spry, herky-jerky, faintly melancholic indie rock like the Brits. It was born there, under bleak grey skies. Listen to anything by The Smiths, or "Favours for Favours" by The Futureheads, or "Making Plans for Nigel" by XTC (who are from Swindon, among the dreariest of English towns). The list goes on and on and on (actually The Longpigs "On and On" is also brilliant). Which brings us to Felt Tip and the lead track "Simple Things" off their forthcoming EP, out on June 9 via (great British indie label) Fierce Panda. Listen, love, curl up with a nice cup of tea and a chocalate HobNob.
