The Unnatural World by Have a Nice Life was a total sleeper banger, combining shoegaze with gothic post-punk and more to create an emotional but ultimately epic follow-up to their massive Death Consciousness from 2008, no small feat. The ever prolific Dan Barrett of Have a Nice Life returns with his latest project, a solo venture called Black Wing that has it's own trajectory, but maintains some of the emotion and strong songwriting that made HANL so compelling. Propelled by dark, heavy synths but with an alternately up-lifting and sunny trajectory, “Death Sentences” is the second song to emerge from the new seven-track LP Is Doomed, due via The Flenser on September 25.
