Black Dirt Oak & Jantar Team for a Mindbender of a Split LP

Expand your mind with Steve Gunn, members of Pelt, Psychic Ills, and more on this whopper of a psych record.

There is something decidedly vintage about the new Black Dirt Oak & Jantar split release, Presage. We don’t mean vintage in the same way as that asshole who screen prints Van Halen designs from 1982 and sells them to you for three times the price, but more like a time capsule, a lost record from thirty or more years ago. Elements of psychedelia, krautrock, free-jazz, experimentalism, and more make up the Black Dirt side of the split, while Jantar handles Eno-like ambient textures, drone, post-rock, and slight melody, both contributing a pair of mind-bending burners. It demands more attention than most experimental records, where the “wow” factor is lost within the first or second spin. Stream it in full below, and then save this URL; you’ll be back later.
