Clearly, the best part of listening melodic punk bands is all the opportunity it presents to shout along like a drunken idiot. Whether you’re finger-pointing along to Iron Chic or Dear Landlord or the Copyrights, you wanna know all the words and you wanna sing them with all your dumb buddies. Enter Bear Trade, who not only give you the chance to sing along, but to do so in a gloriously distinct British accent. The band is from northern England, a fact which is immediately evident from their unmistakable accents and use of words like “daft.” So start brushing up on your Brit slang and shouting “woah-oh!” in your best UK accent because their song “Bleedin Heart Trouble” fucking riiiiiiiiips. Wait, sorry, it’s “jolly good” or whatever those crazy ("limey") punks would say. Check out the video below, which has this sort of British Wes Anderson feel to it.And speaking of Iron Chic (we were just speaking about them in the above paragraph, remember?) Bear Trade is about to go on tour throughout Europe and have a few dates with them. If you’re on “this side of the pond” (more British slang!), you can catch them at Fest this year. Their album Blood and Sand is out next week from Everything Sucks Music in the UK and Dead Broke Records here in the US.May 2 York WoolpackMay 3 London The Lexington (w/ Toys Thay Kill)May 4 Kingston Fighting Cocks (w/ Iron Chic) - SOLD OUTMay 5 Newcastle The Cluny (w/ Iron Chic)May 6 Edinburgh Teviot (w/ Iron Chic)May 7 Manchester Star And Garter (w/ Iron Chic) - SOLD OUTMay 8 Bristol?
