Listen to "Analog Mage," the New LP From H3X3N

This shady LA magebeast throws black metal into an analog synth meatgrinder. We asked him a series of questions about dark, dark shit.

Straight out of Lil Death, LA's tré haute techno goth rave scene H3X3N brings you black metal strewn through the binary meat grinder that is analog synth-wave. Dark, creepy, and uncomfortably anachronistic, it sort of reminds you of that song where Justice ripped a sample from an Argento film. You're like "What? Oh… okay…"

In celebration of All Hallows' Eve, I asked this enigmatic magebeast a series of questions about some dark, dark shit.

Noisey: Halloween or Samhain?
H3X3N: Samhain. It was born of the same hy-brasilian blood that courses through my veins. Samhain is a far more essential representation of the sacred time during which the layer between the physical and metaphysical is at it's thinnest. Halloween is a missionary bastardization of this ancient rite, but probably has more commercial accessibility, making it the obvious choice for our modern culture to celebrate.

Danzig or Samhain?
Danzig, I am hard pressed to think of anyone who can rock a mesh tank top harder than Glenn.

Analog equipment you can't live without?
Roland TR Modules are essential, and I love my Jupiter. These Frenchies are versatile and very richly toned!

Which metal genre couldn't you live without?
I can't imagine life without bitter, acrimonious black metal.

Favorite Circle of Hell?
The innermost circle of the seventh circle, as the subversive nature of H3X3N's sound is laced with classical art, effectively self-sabotaging the virtues of high classicism.

Favorite TV Halloween special?
I love campy nineties horror: Nightmare On Elm Street, Hellraiser, that sort of thing. As far as TV goes I think my guilty pleasure Halloween special has to be NCIS, i know… how terrible is that.
