Photo by Nalinee DarmrongAlarms & Controls got started, of all ways, with the members writing a post-rock opera in D.C. After the production of that venture closed, two of the guys working on it, Chris Hamley (of Circus Lupus) and Vin Novara (of The Crownhate Ruin), decided to jam together on the side. It never really went anywhere until several years later, when they started back up, recruited a new member, and now, here we are today with the release of their new album, Clovis Points.Clovis Pointsis so distinctly D.C., with a bassline-heavy style of post-punk that grabbed the attention of Dischord Records, who are releasing this in conjunction with Lovitt Records. Basically, this album is one photo of the Capitol building away from being a quintessential D.C. album. You can stream the album’s opener, “Megalodon,” below andpick it up here.
